Brian
has a broad range of manufacturing and management experience gained
from working with some of the worlds leading manufacturers from
the Automotive and Aerospace Industries. He has a wealth of experience
of successfully implementing Lean Methodologies into a wide variety
of manufacturing environments and achieving significant business
improvements in productivity, product quality and cost reduction.
Brian has been responsible for managing people and products in
both High Volume and High Value manufacturing in multi million
pound businesses.
His career began in 1979 as an apprentice Toolmaker
at a leading electrical connector manufacturer based in Hampshire.
His role included the manufacture and maintenance of high speed
precision press tools, mould tools and special purpose machinery.
In 1989 Brian joined a 1st Tier automotive
engine components supplier as a Production Engineer and progressed
into Product Development and Prototype Engineering. He became
involved with business improvement teams in association with Nissan
UK and underwent SDX supplier development training before heading
up several successful improvement projects using Kaizen techniques.

Following promotion to Production Manager for
Special Assemblies in 1992, Brian was tasked with setting up a
new production facility to manufacture suspension and axle assemblies
to supply Jaguar Cars, Unipart and Aston Martin. During the development
of a new product range in 1995, he was further challenged to set
up and manage an additional new production facility using automated
robotic technology and single piece flow to manufacture high volume
stainless steel fuel rail assemblies for Bosch, Vauxhall and Delphi.
In 1998 he was recruited by a leading aerospace
company as Manufacturing Manager and assumed responsibility for
the supply of OEM engine components to Rolls Royce, Pratt and
Whitney and GE. Having received extensive training in Lean and
Continuous Improvement Techniques by a leading Japanese car manufacturer,
and also by UTC experts at ITO University, Canada, Brian successfully
coordinated and implemented many business improvements utilising
Lean methodologies and problem solving teams.
During March 2003 Brian joined the Engineering
Employers Federation as a Consultant working as part of the World
Class Performance team to deliver the SEEDA Lean manufacturing
programme. The programme included the development, delivery and
facilitated implementation of Lean Techniques and managing rapid
improvement workshop events at many companies in the South East
of England.
