Keith
is a proven quality professional, trained lead Auditor, Lean practitioner
and Six Sigma black belt. He has extensive experience of implementing
effective business solutions across many organisations in a wide
variety of business sectors.
His career started with a four and half year
apprenticeship as a toolmaker for a company producing high precision
special purpose machines and progression dies. After gaining experience
as an inspector he was promoted to the position of Chief Inspector
with responsibility for all quality matters including developing
and implementing a BS 5750 management system.
He moved to California 1985 to take up a Quality
Assurance role with a major aerospace machining company producing
components for the space shuttle, F14, F16, F18 and Rockwell B1B
programmes.
Returning to the UK in mid 1987 he attended
college to extend his expertise in quality management and business
improvement tools including Statistical Process Control, Failure
Modes Effects Analysis, Quality Function deployment and Design
of Experiments. This led to a post with Nissan Manufacturing UK
where he gained further hands on experience in applying and progressing
real quality improvement in a Lean high volume environment.

In 1989 he returned to aerospace manufacture
joining Aerostructures Hamble Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of
British Aerospace, where he rapidly progressed from Senior Quality
Engineer, to Project Manager - Eurofighter programmes, to Quality
Systems Manager. During his tenure, successes included the introduction
and development of Advanced Quality Techniques, construction and
deployment of externally approved management systems, rationalisation
of inspection activities through the use of statistics and maintenance
of many aerospace customer approvals including the Civil Aviation
Authority.
He joined De La Rue Cash Systems Division in
1998 as Quality Manager with responsibility for leading change
in a high volume electro-mechanical assembly operation and coordination
of all quality and improvement initiatives.
The Engineering Employers Federation approached
Keith in 1999 and he joined them to develop new product offerings
covering Total Quality Management, Continual and Rapid improvement
methodologies, Lean expertise and Six Sigma in a growing consultancy
unit.
